Product Spotlight: Baseline® Fold-Up™ Monofilament

Posted on in Industry News, News

Earlier this week, we wrote about monofilaments and the tests they could provide. Baseline® Fold-Up™ MonofilamentThe monofilament is one of the best tools to test for diabetic foot ulcerations. If the ulceration is caught early enough, amputation can be avoided. There are many different types of monofilaments that can be used to test this condition. One such tool is the Baseline® Fold-Up™ Monofilament.

Baseline® Fold-Up™ Monofilaments provide a non-invasive evaluation of the normal sensory threshold with objective and repeatable results. Each monofilament level represents a unique amount of force which is marked by grams of force and filament size. Baseline® offers a range of different color-coded monofilament levels to accurately test the sensation threshold of patients. The monofilament levels range in size from 1.65 to 6.65.

The biggest difference between the Baseline® Fold-Up™ Monofilament and other monofilaments is the ease of portability and storage. Baseline® Fold-Up™ MonofilamentMost monofilaments have the nylon filament sticking out and unprotected. This filament can easily get crushed and permanently bent. With the Baseline® Fold-Up™ Monofilament, the nylon filament folds into its protective case so damage does not occur. This ability to fold also allows the monofilament to be easily transported to take monofilament testing on-the-go.

Monofilaments are affected by high temperatures and extreme humidity. The best results are made in a dry room temperature environment. Before self-testing with monofilaments be sure to check with your doctor first.
