If you feel uncomfortable going to the gym, now might be a good time to start an outdoor workout routine while the weather is still nice. Outdoor workouts can be done anywhere and provide some much-needed fresh air. However, the best part is they are free! For beginners of outdoor workouts, it can be hard to figure out what exactly you should be doing. Here are some tips to get your outdoor workout started:
Reverse Lung
The reverse lung is a great leg workout that is simple to master and requires no equipment. To begin, stand with your feet hip-width apart and your hands on your hips. Make sure your chest is up and shoulders are back to avoid slouching. Next, while keeping your upper body still and core tight, take a large step back with your right foot. You will have to bend both knees to lower yourself to perform a lunge. Then, press through your left heel to return to a standing position. Repeat this process by stepping back with your opposite foot this time to complete the rep. Do this for 8 to 10 reps to complete the set.
Jump squat
The great thing about jump squats outside is that you do not have to worry about people below you if you live in an apartment. This exercise is a great cardio workout that gets your heart going in seconds. To begin a jump squat, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your toes pointed slightly out. Make sure you keep your chest upright and core tight. Next, bend your knees and sit with your hips back and your hands clasping the front of your chest. Then, press through your heels to jump as high as you can off the ground by swinging your arms behind you. When you land, immediately lower into your next squat to begin the next rep. Repeat this exercise for as many reps as you can for 20 seconds, take a 10 second break and then continue for 4 sets.
Working out in the outdoors is an excellent way to get some fresh air and vitamin D all while you work on your overall health. Before the weather starts to get cold again, consider these exercises when you decide to workout outside.
