Foam Roller Exercises for Building Strength

Posted on in Industry News, News

foam rollerA foam roller is a great tool for pre- and post-workout. The roller acts as a deep-tissue massager and works out knots in our overused muscles, but did you know it can also be used to build strength?

Nicole Falcone from Runner’s World interviewed Tyler G. Travis, executive director of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine Medical Fitness and Wellness Center, to learn more about a strength-building workout routine he created which incorporates foam rollers. The routine includes some standard strength-building exercises, such as planks, pushups, and squats, but the exercises are performed with a foam roller.

“Balancing on a foam roller requires your body to recruit more muscles, especially in your core, to perform the move.” – Tyler G. Travis

Simply put: adding the foam roller makes a standard move slightly more challenging.
