Did you know ball pits are well-known for their therapeutic effects for special needs children? Along with being place of fun and play, a ball pit can be very beneficial to a child struggling with sensory issues. Many people think ball pits can just be at party places, but here at FEI Retail we provide a ball pit that you can build at home or in your clinic.
Follow these instructions and your child can play safely in their very own ball pit.
When ordered here at FEI Retail, your ball pit will arrive with the following (Editor’s Note: quantity of pieces will depend on the size of the ball pit ordered):
- Vinyl-covered panels
- Connecting string
- Balls
Here’s how you put it together:
Step 1. Lay the panels on the floor, flap side down.
Step 2. Match the corners so they form the shape of the ball put and create the bottom. Pull the flaps to the center of the shape.
Step 3. Stand the panels up. Making sure the flap is tucked under the panel
Step 4. Make sure the panels meet as pictured.
Step 5. Begin tying the panels together with the connecting string. Loop the string between the two bottom grommet holes.
Step 6. Take the string on the right and loop it through the second grommet hole.
Step 7. Pull the string through the grommet hole directly across from the second hole.
Step 8. Repeat on the left side. The first and second grommets should look like the photo below.
Step 9. Repeat the ladder pattern all the way to the top. Pull the string tight each time to ensure a secure hold.
Step 10. Secure the string at the top by tightly knotting the two sides of the string together as shown.
Step 11. Repeat this process with the other panels until the ball pit can stand on its own.
Step 12. Fill the ball pit with balls and enjoy.
Please be sure to check the walls of the ball pit so that they are secure before each use. Also, look for tears or loose string prior to each use to ensure security.
