Hotel Workout Tips

Have you ever felt hesitant to go on vacation and leave your workout routine at home? You’re not alone, it can be challenging to find the time and facilities to stay on your A-game while traveling. Seasoned traveler Nigel Barker, fashion photographer and former America’s Next Top Model judge, travels 7 months a year and has shared in a recent GQ article his top hotel workout tips.

  1. Get on the floor: grab your yoga mat, or use a bed sheet if you left your yoga mat at home, and start your basic stretches.
  2. Stretch: everyone is familiar with the pains of sitting on a plane all day. Loosen up with a travel-ready BLACKROLL® MINI or a CanDo® resistance band (a towel would work well, too). Bands are a favorite travel tool since they’re small enough to fit in a carry on.
  3. Use the space: even the smallest hotel rooms have space you can utilize. Find open space on the wall to do power push-offs or use the desk for tricep desk dips.
  4. Get creative: didn’t pack a CanDo® dumbbell? Get the phonebook from the bedside table or use your suit case as an overhead press.
  5. Do cardio: forget the elevator and take the fire escape stairs for a boost of cardio.
  6. Don’t stop: minimum space equals maximum effort. Plan out a circuit in advance and keep speed on your side. Get through the routine as fast as you can, any workout is harder when going through it quickly.

Being out of town doesn’t need to be an excuse to ditch your exercise routine. Get crafty, follow these simple hotel workout tips and pack smart to keep in great shape from the comfort of your hotel room.
