With the current pandemic still affecting the world, it is important to stay safe inside your home to stop the spread. If you do end up having to go out, there is the risk you can potentially bring the virus home with you. However, the virus is less likely to linger if you do a routine cleaning to disinfect your house.
Before you go around disinfecting everything, it is important for every household member to understand COVID-19 and how it can be spread. This will allow household members to be more cautious and remember to sanitize things as they use them. Depending on the surface, viruses can live on them anywhere from a couple hours to a couple days. So be sure to disinfect high touch items such as tables, chairs, doorknobs, switches, phones, tablets and remote controls regularly. If someone does fall ill, it is recommended that they isolate themselves. If possible, have them stay in a separate room and use a separate bathroom. Provide cleaning supplies for them to use to help disinfect whatever they touch.
Now that you have been educated what you should clean, it is important to know the proper way to clean. Before you clean anything, it is a good idea to wear disposable gloves to reduce contact with potentially infected areas. You may also want to wear a mask or other protective equipment to limit exposure. If a surface is visibly dirty, prior to disinfecting it, use soap and warm water to clean it. Then use your disinfectant equipment to fully disinfect it. To avoid damage to electronics, use disinfectant wipes to lightly wipe them down before use. Use disinfectant spray bottles for hard surfaces and use appropriate cleaners for soft surfaces such as rugs or drapes. After you are done cleaning and disinfecting, remove all your personal protective equipment and properly dispose of it.
With today’s new world, you can never be too safe. Disinfecting your house frequently is a great way to stay safe in your home especially if you choose to go out.
