Every year, the month of October is recognized as National Chiropractic Health Month. This year, the ACA specifically wants to bring awareness to our musculoskeletal (MSK) system.

Our MSK system is comprised of muscles, bones and joints. It plays a very important role in helping us get stronger and stay stronger in every point of our lives. The MSK system makes it possible for people to stand and move. Without our MSK system people would not be able to do many crucial things. Daily life tasks can become impossible if the MSK system is impaired.

As we age, our MSK system can be a source of debilitating pain. Just through normal aging, our MSK system becomes more fragile and more prone to injury. Lower back pain is one of the most common MSK complaints and is the single leading cause of disability worldwide. Luckily, small steps can be taken to improve your overall MSK health. One step you can take is make sure you stay physically active, even if you just go for a 15-minute walk. Being physically active is very important as it helps reduce certain risks and health problems related to the MSK system.
