Weighted hand exercises are a great way to aid kids in writing and fine hand motor skills. To practice weighted hand exercises, we offer CanDo® Hand Weights. These weights provide children of all ages extra hand and wrist stability during writing and other fine motor activities. They can also strengthen wrist strength and aid in early development.
CanDo® Hand Weights are designed to enable the use of all fingers when worn. The weight rests on top of the hand. The child size is perfect for children because the weight (0.25 lbs) is light enough to be used by anyone. A strap wraps across the palm providing a secure fit.
These hand weights can be safe for your child if they follow some rules of safety. A big rule to follow is to use the product on your child when they reach an appropriate age. Infants can’t use weights so you will have to wait until they are a little bit older and more developed. The next two big rules are to make sure your child does not overuse the hand weight and make sure they are always supervised. Children may not understand there is a limit to much they can use the hand weight and this could lead to injuries. Even though these are light hand weights, it is important to be safe with your child when handling them.
It should be noted that these hand weights are available for both the left and right hands, ranging from 0.25 to 0.5 pounds. Please consult with your pediatrician before having your child use CanDo® Hand Weights.
