fitness dateIt’s that time of year again. The holidays are over, there are less people at the gym, and, of course, love is in the air because Valentine’s Day is coming. Maybe you’re thinking of doing something sweet for your significant other or looking for a date idea for the person you are going out with for the first time. Why not try going on a fitness date for Valentine’s Day?

We know what you’re thinking: why would you want to get sweaty in front of someone you’re attracted to? Fitness dates are a great way to get to know a person, spend quality time with someone you love, or get out of the boring date rut. The Runkeeper Community recently came up with several ideas for a fitness date that sound like a great way to spend Valentine’s Day. Here are some ways to get fit and spend time with your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day:

  1. Go for a scenic run and grab a bite to eat – plan a hard run to a favorite brunch spot and then enjoy a meal together. Plan your route so you get the best views.
  2. Try out a new activity – use this as your excuse to try out a new class or go to a new gym. Spinning and yoga are perfect examples of classes you can take together.
  3. Think outside the box – instead of going to a typical gym try going to something a little different. Try indoor rock climbing or trampoline parks.
  4. Embrace the elements – snow isn’t the enemy. Use it as an excuse to try skiing or snow shoeing. After you’re done cozy up with some hot cocoa. If you live in a warmer climate try going swimming at the beach.
  5. Explore new places – plan a weekend outing hiking and be sure to take plenty of pictures along the way. There’s no need to push too hard. Keeping an easy pace allows for great conversation.

Enjoy your fitness date!
