How to Set Up Your Relief Pak® Heating Unit

The latest addition to the Relief Pak® product line is the Relief Pak® Heating Unit. This collection of heating units is unique because each unit, including four and six pack capacity units, feature insulation. This insulation makes the heating units safer and more efficient to use. Relief Pak Heating Unit

Today, we wanted to talk about how easy it is to get your Heating Unit set up and running in your clinic. Each unit can be set up in a matter of minutes, and take less time than the industry standard unit to reach operating temperature. Keep reading below to learn how to set up and operate your Relief Pak® Heating Unit.

Before you begin:

  • Download and read through our instruction manual carefully
  • Make sure the unit is free of excessive wear
  • Verify that there is a properly grounded and voltage-matched hospital-grade receptacle available
  • Ensure the outlet is equipped with a functioning GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter)

Here is how you set up your Relief Pak® Heating Unit:

Step 1.

Make sure the unit is unplugged, all packaging has been removed, and the drain valve is closed.

Step 2.

Fill the unit with tap water until the water level is between the minimum and maximum fill lines.

Editor’s note: when filled, the units can be heavy. Make sure stationary units at their desired location before filling with water.

Step 3.

Place the wire rack inside the unit. Be careful not to touch the heating element.

Step 4.

Place the Relief Pak® moist heat packs on the wire rack, ensuring they are fully submerged.

Editor’s note: capacity number is number of standard size packs that will fit safely in the heating unit.

Step 5.

Close the lid of the unit.

Step 6.

Plug the power cord into an AC outlet. GFCI outlets are recommended to increase protection from electrical shock.

Your Relief Pak® Heating Unit is now set up!

When you’re ready to start using your heating unit, simply turn the control knob located on the front of the unit to the desired temperature. We recommend setting it at 170F for best results. Turn the knob clockwise to raise the temperature. Turn the knob counterclockwise to lower the temperature. After setting the desired temperature, turn the power switch to the on position. When the unit is on, the heating element light should be illuminated. Heating times to the desired operating temperature will depend on the size of your unit.
