Do you stretch? There are various forms of stretching that allow you to choose how you want to maintain your flexibility. An opposite form to active stretching is passive stretching. This focuses more on using an external force to provide the pull for the stretch. Below are some passive stretching exercises you can perform with our CanDo® resistance bands:
Supine Single Leg Stretch
The supine single leg stretch is a great passive stretch that really works on your hamstrings. To begin, you first need to choose a CanDo® resistance band that you like with the right resistance you need. Next, lie on the floor with your back and raise your left leg. Making sure you are keeping your left leg straight, extend your right leg straight out. After that, place the CanDo® resistance band around the bottom of your foot. Pull your left leg toward your body while also pressing your leg gently back to resist the movement. Hold this position for up to 1 minute and then release your leg slowly. Repeat this process on the opposite leg.
Standing Quadricep Stretch
Just as it sounds, this stretch really helps to stretch your quadriceps. To begin, you first need to choose a CanDo® resistance band that you like with the right resistance you need. Then, stand on your left leg with your left hand against a sturdy object such as a chair or a wall. Next, bend your right knee and bring the heel of your foot toward your buttocks. After that, place the CanDo® resistance band around your right ankle. Gently pull your foot toward your body while also pressing your foot against the resistance. Hold this position for up to 1 minute and then slowly release your right leg. Repeat this process on the opposite leg.
Passive stretching is a great way to reduce muscle tension, increase range of motion, and enhance your flexibility. If you have a preexisting condition, please consult a medical professional before implementing passive stretching into your daily routine.
